The article addresses the issue of forming general professional competencies among bachelors of pedagogical education within the framework of the competence-based approach. The main focus is on the potential of subject olympiads and competitions as a pedagogical tool capable of activating the creative, research, and communicative potential of future teachers. The research methodology is based on the analysis of scholarly sources, systematization of pedagogical experience, and data from an empirical survey of participants in the olympiad movement. The study found that systematic student involvement in olympiad activities has a comprehensive impact on the development of key components of professional training. The results indicate positive dynamics in mastering competencies related to designing the educational process, organizing interaction, and applying scientific knowledge in practical situations. Based on the analysis, the conclusion is substantiated about the high educational value of the Olympiad format, which creates conditions for modeling professional tasks, stimulates cognitive motivation, and contributes to the development of the future teacher’s subjective position. The practical significance of the research lies in proposing guidelines for further improvement of olympiad practices within the system of higher pedagogical education to enhance its quality and alignment with modern standards.
