Abstracts:

Communicative activity in the sphere of communication related to weapons production is identified by us as a separate category – weapons discourse, a special type of institutional discourse, which overlaps with military, engineering, scientific, hunting types of discourse and, thus, can be attributed to a hybrid format. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing interest to institutional discourse and hybrid forms of communication in modern linguistics. The present research aims at revealing word-building ways of enriching vocabulary of weapons discourse. The research is based upon interviews of gunsmiths of the Udmurt Republic in printed and electronic periodicals, proceedings of scientific-practical conferences, documentaries about M. T. Kalashnikov, memoires, monographs by M. T. Kalashnikov, V. A. Yarygin, M. Ye. Dragunov and other weapons designers. The following word-building ways have been revealed in the professional speech of gunsmiths: abbreviation, composition, affixation, lexico-semantic word creation, univerbation. The peculiarities of word-building in the discourse of weapons designers are conditioned by both linguistic and extralinguistic factors.
