Abstracts:

The article investigates the effectiveness of the educational quest as a means of developing communicative skills of speaking in English lessons among 10th-grade students. The relevance of the study is determined by the search for modern pedagogical tools that can bridge the gap between language comprehension and speaking ability going beyond reproductive exercises.

As part of the study the educational quest “The Incredible Theft” was developed and tested based on the “Rainbow English” textbook materials. A pedagogical experiment involving control and experimental groups was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the educational quest technology with an oral dialogue test serving as the primary evaluation method.

The final assessment revealed that students in the experimental group who learned through the educational quest technology demonstrated more substantial progress in developing communicative skills compared to the control group. The most significant improvement was observed in their ability to maintain a dialogue and use learned vocabulary in spontaneous speech. The obtained data confirm the potential of quest technology as a means of developing communicative skills in English lessons.

The study concludes that the educational quest has a positive impact on the development of speaking skills and can be recommended for implementation in high school.
