EXTRACURRICULAR EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AS A TOOL FOR PREVENTION OF DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
The article reveals the problem of prevention of delinquent behavior of primary school students, who are vulnerable to negative influences and behavioral deviations when experiencing a critical period of their development. Delinquent behavior in early school age can have long-term consequences, including problems with the law, learning difficulties, and socialization. The aim of the study is to develop and substantiate the possibilities of extracurricular educational activities in the prevention of delinquent behavior of younger schoolchildren.
The relevance of the problem is due to the increase deviations in children’s behavior, changes in the value orientations of young people, unfavorable family and household relations, lack of parental control over children’s behavior, insufficient material base of the family and much more.
The study of the problem was carried out using the method of theoretical analysis of scientists’ points of view on the problem of research, generalization of the discovered information, and its comparison. The younger students were tested according to N.V. Kuleshova’s methodology “What is good and what is bad”, observation of their behavior, and an experiment to solve the problem under study in the process of extracurricular educational work.
The paper provides the definition of the concept of delinquent behavior of younger schoolchildren as a stable deviant behavior of children which is expressed in actions that violate legal norms or social rules. It demonstrates the effect of introducing the content of extracurricular educational activities developed by the authors which contributed to the increase in the level of formation of the ability of younger schoolchildren to make choices from a position of responsibility for what they do. It is concluded that the work carried out has a positive effect on the effectiveness of prevention of delinquency.
