Abstracts:

The Russian and Chuvash language world views are considered in the article by means of a comparative semantic analysis of the Russian and Chuvash lexical units and phraseological phrases representing the lexical category “shoes”. The research was carried out in line with the current directions in linguistics – linguoculturology and cognitive linguistics, and is devoted to the most important problem of modern anthropocentric linguistics – the reconstruction of ethnic language world views. The relevance of the research lies in the insufficient study of the representative potential of the lexical category “shoes” in the Chuvash language world view, as well as in the absence of thorough comparative studies of this lexical category in the aspect of the Russian and Chuvash language world views. The sources for the collection of linguistic material were explanatory, phraseological, dialect dictionaries, as well as Russian and Chuvash folklore collections. In carrying out the research, the author used the following methods: the method of continuous sampling of language examples, analysis of dictionary definitions, conceptual and contextual analysis, comparative method. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the linguistic units representing the lexical category “shoes”, having rich associative connections, act as an important element of the culture of both the Russian and Chuvash peoples. The study of the linguistic material allows us to conclude that shoes in both Russian and Chuvash cultures are often correlated with the material well-being and social status of the owner. In addition, many lexemes naming shoes in the compared languages are associated with people possessing certain moral qualities (more often negative, such as rudeness, ignorance, etc.). Also, as a result of the study, national and cultural features of both Russian and Chuvash language world views were revealed.
