Abstracts:
The article highlights the modernization of engineering education, with particular focus on establishing continuous engineering education within the “school – technical university” system, as exemplified through teaching students in engineering classes. Based on the analysis of theoretical sources by Russian and foreign authors, the key trends in the development of school-level engineering education have been identified: the creation of a universal model for preparing future engineers; the formation of school students’ technological competencies; the implementation of the long-term national American program “Engineering For US All”; the experience of the Irish university pilot program “TYDE” (Transition Year Dual Engagement); the necessity to conduct classes in information psychology; monitoring readiness for professional ethical activity; and strengthening the moral educational potential of the studied subjects to purposefully form professional ethical values. The authors have summarized the experience of preparing students in the engineering class at MBGEI “Gymnasium No. 14” in Yoshkar-Ola, and have identified the conditions for effective preparation, including partnership with the regional technical university (university Saturdays, interactive seminars with university teachers and students, project defense at university scientific and technical forums); conducting monitoring of results not only in academic activities and career guidance work, but also in the formation of professional ethical values necessary for future engineers. Of particular interest is the perspective of engineering class graduates regarding the necessary personal and professional qualities for successful future engineering careers, spheres for self-improvement, influence of various factors on teamwork, ensuring safety when performing engineers’ professional duties, ethical values, and importance of adhering to ethical standards in their future profession.
