| Abstracts: | The article under analysis explores the specifics of conveying expressiveness in the translation of journalistic texts from English into Russian. Almost all journalistic texts, to one degree or another, reflect the opinions of their authors about the events and people described in them. Journalists strive to make their publications emotionally vivid to attract as many readers as possible. English-language journalism is no exception. Authors resort to various means to make their texts more expressive. Conveying the expressive potential inherent in English-language journalism remains a complex task for translators as the original texts may employ means of different linguistic levels.
This paper aims to expand on existing research and examine the strategies used to convey various expressive linguistic means when translating journalistic texts from English into Russian. To achieve this goal, contemporary journalistic texts written in English, as well as their translations into Russian, were examined. The study employed source analysis, data systematization, comparative analysis, classification, and description.
The study revealed that in the articles examined, expressiveness is primarily expressed through lexical means and through changes in grammatical structures. Phonetic means are used less frequently to convey emotionality. Among all the examples examined, calques, equivalents, full translations, and transpositions are most frequently used to convey evaluativeness at different levels of language.
