This article discusses the ways to apply the theory of intersemantic translation into practice. The introduction to the work is devoted to the description of the key aspects on the basis of which the research will take place. It indicates the object, the subject of the study and describes the theoretical and practical significance. The relevance of this study lies in the novelty of the intersemantic approach to the translation, the application of which has been little studied in practice. The research material is presented by two professional and one own translation of German poetic works. In the course of our research, a set of following methods was used: semantic, semiotic, comparative analysis, descriptive method, the method of contextual sampling. The methodology of intersemantic translation allows to combine the principles of classical and free approaches to a text interpretation. The results of the study show that the complete identity of the translation concerns, first of all, not the form, but the content. The relevance of translation accuracy lies in preserving the key characters of the work.  Despite the importance of preserving the form of the work, which makes it possible to recreate the style in which the author originally worked, the primacy of semantic accuracy remains fundamental in determining the correctness of the translation. Their “transposition”, reinterpretation or substitution lead to the emergence of new meanings and thus indirectly change the author’s original worldview. The conclusion of the work is that the exact preservation of the semiotic means of a work leads to the accuracy of its adaptation, the substitution and omission of some meanings lead, on the contrary, to the liberal translation.
