Abstracts:
In this article for the first time, we examined the concept “interpretive potential” from the view of the concept created by G.I. Bogin, who was the head of the Tver School of Theory of Understanding and Interpretation of Texts. The relevance of the stated topic is determined by the unresolved issue within the framework of the mentioned scientific association about the relationship between types of understanding and ways of organizing the means of constructing a text in a diachronic aspect. The material for studying in this article is the texts written by Archpriest Avvakum, one of the outstanding writers of the second half of the 17th century. From his corpus of texts, we extracted syntactic constructions with the conjunction “sirech” which is the subject of our research. The main methods of studying them are description, contextual analysis, direct component analysis, comparison, and continuous sampling. The results of this work include two points. First, at the level of theory we have proposed four assumptions about the realization of interpretative potential. We assume the connection of the interpretative potential with the text, the difference in the ways of mastering and realizing the interpretative potential, the regularity of these methods and the support of this regulation both from the content and from the symbolic form itself. Secondly, basing on these theoretical assumptions we found out how the manifestation of interpretative potential is described both in terms of the denotative (symmetry and asymmetry of the explained and explanatory parts in the syntactic structure) and in terms of the denotatum (the relationship between the content and a specific type of understanding). The conclusion asserts the adequacy of the proposed view of studying the linguistic material used in the article.
