Abstracts:

The article describes the material field of one of the main characters of V. I. Belov’s trilogy “The Sixth Hour” – Yevgraf Mironov. It is noted that in the peasant epic, the events, characters, and things depicted function in two temporal dimensions (real historical and mythological, biblical, and eternal). This is due to the transformation of everyday things into symbols. The relevance of the work is determined by the importance of studying the subject section of the work in order to clarify some provisions of the author’s anthropocentric concept. Comparative-typological, historical-genetic, structural-semiotic methods are used in the work. The results of the study demonstrate the axiological dominant of the character’s image – Christian humility. In the material field of the character, objects are highlighted that actualize the semantics of the path, trials, ordeals (boots, knapsack), connections with God (chest, fur coat, icon). The objects forming the material field of the hero are connected with the idea of the life of a Russian person as a journey, as a result of which the character receives a life experience that allows him to feel humility as grace. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that it explores the semiotics of things belonging to one hero, forming his material field, and establishes typological connections between these objects, on the basis of which the hero is characterized as a special type of personality – a fragrant righteous man in a stinking world. The methodological basis of the research was the works of A. Chudakov, V. Toporov, T. Tsivyan.
