Abstracts:

This article focuses on the challenges of teaching international students in Russian Philology departments at Russian universities, where Russian is not only used as a spoken language by international students but also mastered professionally. The paper emphasizes various aspects of this problem. Drawing on their own practical experience of teaching Russian philology disciplines (“Modern Russian Language”, “Russian Language (Practical Course)”, “Basic Language (Theoretical Course)’, and “History of Russian Literature from the 10th to 20th Centuries”), the authors demonstrate the effectiveness of the linguacultural aspect in teaching international students, particularly when analyzing obsolete vocabulary, which poses difficulties for all students. To this end, the article provides examples of specific assignments, including various types of work: from familiarization with a given group of words in the lexical composition of the language to commenting on them and using them in speech. By addressing obsolete vocabulary in its linguacultural aspect using the material of Russian philology disciplines, the authors aim to systematize the knowledge acquired by students in the relevant sections, which ultimately ensures the formation of meta-subject competencies in the university study of language and literature by foreign students – future bachelors in Russian Philology.
