Abstracts:

This paper analyzes German verbs denoting physical movement in the aquatic environment (hydrosphere), focusing on prefixal derivatives of the motivating stem schwimmen. The relevance of the study stems from the need to apply a system approach to describing the semantics of verbs of motion within the cognitive-discursive paradigm. In accordance with this approach, the analysis of the formation of the meaning of the derivative verb is conducted at the conceptual level using the categorical apparatus of cognitive linguistics, which involves referring to the conceptual structures underlying the prefix and verb stem. The empirical base consists of 28 derivatives; data from authoritative explanatory dictionaries and the DWDS and DGD language corpora are used as materials. The theoretical basis of the work consists of research works in the fields of semantics, linguatopology, and the theory of conceptual derivation. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive analysis of the verb schwimmen derivatives, combining a linguotopological approach with modeling the interaction of prefix and stem concepts. The practical significance lies in the potential application of the results in translation studies and academic lexicography. The analysis confirms that the semantics of German hydrospheric verbs is formed through the integration of conceptual structures, reflecting the typological features of the language and the cultural and cognitive attitudes of its speakers.
