Abstracts:

The article studies the geographical terms within the framework of microtoponyms of the village of Bolshiye Yalchiki, Yalchiksky Municipal District, Chuvashia Republic. Geographical names serve as a kind of chronicle, preserving information about historical periods of land development and reflecting the unique dialectal characteristics of each specific area. This fact creates new opportunities for studying the history of language and ethnicity. The need to study the geographical vocabulary contained in the names of small objects (microtoponyms) of the village determines the relevance of the presented work. The analysis of the place and time of appearance and development of geographical names allows us to reconstruct the historical features of a given area in more detail. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that the analyzed factual material reflecting the types of geographical objects is considered for the first time. The following approaches were used to conduct the study: classification and systematization methods, comparative analysis and descriptive approach, as well as linguistic modeling. In our work, various types of geographical names were studied. It is important to emphasize that microtoponyms are closer in nature to everyday words than to official toponyms. For residents of a particular village or town, they are already full-fledged geographical names.
