Name of article:LEXICAL AND STYLISTIC FEATURES OF ENGLISH-LANGUAGE AND RUSSIAN-LANGUAGE TRAVEL BLOGS
Keywords:

travel blog, lexical means, stylistic means, metaphor, epithet, slang, neologisms

Abstracts:

This article is devoted to the study of lexical and stylistic features of English-language and Russian-language travel blogs. The paper considers such lexical means as thematic vocabulary related to travelling, evaluative lexis, slang words and expressions, borrowings, neologisms, as well as stylistic tools such as metaphor, synecdoche, epithet, hyperbole, irony.

The relevance of the study is due to the growing popularity and influence of travel blogs and the lack of knowledge of the travel blog language. Travel blogs have transformed from a hobby into a powerful tool for influencing people who are interested in traveling. Millions of people turn to them for inspiration and travel recommendations. In addition, travel blogs combine features of various genres: diary entries, travel notes, reviews, advertising texts, and even fiction.

The article analyzes English-language and Russian-language travel blogs, 18 in each of these two languages. In this work, such methods as the continuous sampling method, the descriptive method, comparison and juxtaposition, and contextual analysis were used to solve the tasks set.

The analysis of the results showed that both common and distinctive features in the use of lexical and stylistic means can be noted in the English-language and Russian-language travel blogs. We should also note that there are more common features in the use of lexical and stylistic tools in the blogs in the two languages studied. It should be noted that despite globalization, blogs in Russian and English retain their national and cultural specifics at all language levels.
