Abstracts:

The article presents an analysis of the phonetic structure of the Norman dialect of the French language. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that the study of the development of dialects in a given territory allows to understand and explain the current state of the language. The purpose of the study is to identify the main trends in the development of the phonetic structure of the dialect in the context of linguistic centralisation and the loss of its use in the main spheres of human activity. Based on the research of Russian and French linguists, the development of the vowel sounds of the Norman dialect of French is described. The article examines the definition of dialect given by Russian researchers (V. G. Gak, V. M. Zhirmunsky, K. P. Ivanova, F. I. Yarullina). The article presents the results of the studies carried out at different times by French linguists (Christine Pic-Gillard, Rene Pezeril, Claude Lepelley, Charles Jauré, Patrice Brasseur and others). The study makes it possible to describe the phonetic structure of the Norman dialect, to compare it with the phonetic structure of the French language and to conclude that the Norman dialect has a large number of pronunciation possibilities for vowel sounds, while the pronunciation of consonants does not differ from the pronunciation of consonants in French. Thus, the study of the phonetic structure of the Norman dialect of French is a part of a multifaceted study of the place of a single dialect in the linguistic and cultural diversity of the French-speaking world.
