Abstracts:
The article presents the results of the comparative analysis of the representation of the image of the main character created in the Chuvash language in translations into Russian and English. The analysis is based on the contexts in the original work and its translations, which reveal the actions, mental abilities, emotions and physical state of the character. This image of the main character is a primary element of any literary work. Consequently, translation techniques for its representation have a significant impact on the emotional and aesthetic perception of the reader. The aim of the article is to analyze the features of the main character’s representation when translating from Chuvash into Russian and English. The relevance lies in the fact that the issues of literary translation from the Chuvash language are insufficiently studied. Moreover, in modern translation studies the issues of representation of the image of the main character created by the Chuvash author in translations into other languages remain open. The main research method was the method of sampling. It was found that the most common technique of conveying the image of the main character in translations into Russian and English is the use of equivalents.
